they feel

animals are not simply things we can put in one place or other, to further our interests — animals have, in reality, their own interests, for certain, seeming more similar to ours: the simple and sincere interest in enjoying life, for example

behind a happy meal or any product of animal origin we can find in the supermarket hides the suffering of someone who wanted to be free and, in exchange, we condemn to death

behind a carton of milk hides the anguish of a mother who wanted more time with her son or daughter, to breastfeed, but he or she was ripped away, to steal the nourishment that nature created for them, not us

from some we took their freedom, for others we take their life

from some we steal the honey, the eggs, the fur, the feathers, the skin, the legs, the wings, the horns, the tusks, the flesh, the entrails, the fluids

we subject others to strenuous labour or painful punishments

for others more we simply destroy their habitat, exposing them to the world we created for ourselves

and they have had to withstand all this in silence because we don’t understand and don’t want to understand their voice

because they don’t matter and have never mattered

because always it has been more important the caprice of the oppressor over the suffering of the debilitated

because nobody will come and claim it from us

they are utterly defenceless against the insatiable greed of the human being: that is why those who are able to see this cannot and must not remain silent

before such great injustice, i repeat, we cannot and must not remain silent

let us raise our voice
until the last cage is empty!

let us raise our voice
until every animal is free from oppression!

let us raise our voice
until there is total animal liberation!
